2009 FrightFest Speculation

Postby FrightTour on Wed Sep 02, 2009 4:51 pm

Now that the summer season is coming to a close. What will the park be doing this year for FrightFest? What haunted walk-throughs will they be building, where will the scarezones be and what haunted shows will take the stage!?

Went to the park this past Sunday and it seems they will be bringing back Demented Forest and The Asylum. The National Rent-A-Fence is on site:

The Asylum is starting to take shape behind the old Chiller Station:

The Demented Forest fence is stacked and ready to go:

Now these things could have been left there over the break & summer but still interesting:

Also, when we were on Nitro we noticed the Hay Ride tractor beds in a row in the center of the employee parking lot. Could the Hay Ride be coming back this year?!

Nice to see the park taking the initiative to get the mazes up quickly! I thought The Asylum was a good walk-through for Great Adventure when we went there last year...

The Demented Forest wasn't a bad walk-through but it lacked the scare factor.

I don't think the park will be bringing back the Haunted Hayride because of Saturday Night Lights. A lot of Entertainments money went into that this year...

Ok this is what we know about this year's FrightFest:

1. The Demented Forest & The Asylum will both be longer along with more scenery and ghouls. (That's why construction began so early)
2. Besides Dead Man's Dance Party, the park will also be showcasing a Michael Jackson tribute show called, "Ghosts". (Details of the show weren't given, however, we do know there will be lots of dancing)
3. The Hayride is not coming back, ever!

These are changes or new attractions/shows coming to FrightFest 2009.

Here are some photos from the park this weekend:

The outer mall is near completion. The webs, and FrightFest signs are up. Now we are just waiting on the beautiful landscaping with mums, pumpkins, cornstalks, and wagons.

The stage for Dead Man's Dance Party and Ghosts has been erected!

The columns have been set in place along the three main entrance midways.

The Demented Forest located over near Congo Rapids has begun taking shape:

Strange little houses have arrived on site for The Demented Forest, does anyone know where these came from?

It seems that the massive tangle of webs will be forming at the entrance of the trail just like last year

The Asylum which will be located behind the old Chiller station has grown

Bunch of barrels and containment unit for one of the pshycos.

Gravel for the walkway so it doesn't get muddy.

The webbing has been finished or started in these areas, The Golden Kingdom, Outer Mall, Inner Mall, Fantasy Forest, and Frontier Adventures. As of right now, the Graveyard hasn't even been started and MovieTown hasn't either.

We will be going there this Sunday to get more photos for you, make sure to check back here Monday morning!

Went to the park last night for the finale of Saturday Night Lights and of course it was cancelled due to weather. However, I got some nice pictures of some new Fright Fest decorations as well as some info on the haunted houses:

The outer mall has been completed with landscaping of large pumpkins, mums, hay stacks and old farming equipment.

The fountain has been dressed with the cemetery. Not as big as past years but that's ok, I would rather have room to walk.

The graveyard is coming along, however, there is no dirt and very little props.

Psycho Circus props are on the midways.

At the front of The Demented Forest there is a large spider web and it looks to be done! This is Fright Fest at it's best!

The cornstalk maze is up in The Demented Forest, however, each maze has a lot to go until they are completely finished. I am supposedly getting photos from an employee who will be taking photos from the haunted mazes this week. Check back!
